C&F Artists Commissions: #WalkCollage by Alisa Oleva
Our Fourth C&F Artist Commission is #WalkCollage by Alisa Oleva, and invites you to go on a virtual walk with a new friend…
Do you like to walk?
Do you go on a walk every day?
What is your favourite route?
Do you like to walk on your own or with a friend?
I am inviting you to go for a walk.
You might go on your own yet you will be connected to others via a #WalkCollage.
LISTEN TO ALISA’S FINAL #WalkCollage
“This soundtrack is composed of voices of 22 participants from various cities across the world who contributed to the collective walk over the two weeks. You are invited to listen to it in headphones as you go on a walk and encouraged to repeat some / or all / of the actions that you hear. Also feel free to listen to it in any other way.” Alisa Oleva
WHAT DID WE ASK PEOPLE TO DO?
Participants joined our collective WhatsApp group
We then asked people to; Go on a walk. Make sure your phone is charged.
As you walk, you can send audio messages of your actions on the walk as you are doing them. You can send as many messages on your walk as you wish. Please say them in the present tense as you are doing them.
To record, press the microphone sign in the bottom left corner and hold it while you are recording. When you finish recording just take your finger from the record button and it will send the message.
You can also send photos or text messages if you don't want to use audio recording.
THEN WHAT HAPPENED?
Alisa created a soundtrack using all of the collected audio instructions together, so everyone has contributed to a collective #WalkCollage.
The soundtrack has been shared so everyone will be able to go on a walk when they wish. Put on their headphones, listen to the instructions in the soundtrack, following them all or just the ones you like, to perform a collective #walkcollage.

ALISA SAYS…
”I like to walk. But most of all I like to walk with a friend. This #walkcollage will allow us all to co-create a walk together so others could then follow in our footsteps and feel connected. It feels so important especially in the times when we are not always able to go on a walk together.”
